"City of Life and Death" is a lucid work of Chinese director Lu Chuan, who returns in style to narrate one of the biggest massacres in human history, the one that occurred in Nanking and had as protagonists the Chinese people and Japanese soldiers, left more than 300,000 deaths in charge of the latter. Lu Chuan approaches the subject from the utmost respect, featuring characters from both sides to provide two points of view, look for a (relative) objectivity, not attached to the Chinese or Japanese ideas.
