Too Much Johnson

Orson Welles, 1938

Posing as wealthy Cuban plantation owner Joseph Johnson, Augustus Billings is having an affair with married Clairette Dathis. Augustus is able to get away just before Clairette's husband, Leon Dathis, comes home. But Leon finds out about the affair. With Augustus' photograph in hand, Leon goes on a search for his wife's lover. The ensuing chase leads to one sight gag close call after another. Eventually, the real Joseph Johnson in Cuba gets unwittingly into the act. 

Comedia muda rodada por Orson Welles en 1938 para proyectar, en forma de tres prólogos, junto a una obra de teatro del mismo título. Se creía perdida en un incendio que hubo en la casa de Welles en los años 70, pero en julio de 2013 se encontró una copia completa en Italia. Esta copia fue restaurada para un estreno en octubre de 2013 en el Dryden Theatre de George Eastman House en Nueva York, con un posterior estreno online en el resto del mundo.

Evil Mr.Grimes keeps a rag-tag bunch orphans on his farm deep in a swamp in the US South. He forces them to work in his garden and treats them like slaves. They are watched over by the eldest, Molly. A gang in league with Mr. Grimes kidnaps Doris, the beautiful little daughter of a rich man, and hides her out on Grimes' farm, awaiting ransom. The Racket

Lewis Milestone, 1928

An honest police captain named McQuigg becomes a tough rival to a powerful bootlegger named Scarsi, even though McQuigg's pinches never stick because Scarsi and his organization control the corrupt politicians and judges. When Scarsi can't scare McQuigg off, he gets him transferred to a quiet police precinct in the suburbs, but McQuigg continues their war of words via a pair of wisecracking newspaper reporters. Then McQuigg catches a huge break when Scarsi's younger brother gets picked up for a hit and run accident in his precinct, putting in motion a complex plan to bring down the mobster using the reporters, a nightclub singing gold digger, the upcoming elections and Scari's own organization.

Sometime in the future, the city of Metropolis is home to a Utopian society where its wealthy residents live a carefree life. One of those is Freder Fredersen. Lursmani cheqmashi

(El clavo en la bota, Mikhail Kalatozov 1931)

"El clavo en la bota" ("Lursmani cheqmashi" en georgiano, "Gvozd v sapoge" en ruso), filmada inmediatamente a continuación de Sal para Svanetia, fue la última película hecha en Georgia por el futuro autor de "Cuando pasan las cigüeñas" y "Soy Cuba". La primera parte de la película tiene lugar en un campo de batalla. Un soldado es enviado a notificar al cuartel general que un tren blindado está a punto de ser destruido y necesita urgente ayuda. En su camino se hiere un pie con un clavo que sobresale de la suela de su bota, y no logra arribar al cuartel a tiempo. El tren está perdido. La segunda parte del film transcurre en un tribunal popular en el que se juzga el accionar del protagonista. A través del interrogatorio emergen distintos aspectos de la historia.
